Making Faces

Making Faces - Amy Harmon How do you review a book that is just so beautiful, it leaves you breathless.

This book owns me. It is so heartwarming and awe-inspiring and poetic, it'll take your breath away! Definitely one of the best book I've read this year if not the best!

This is a story about Fern, Bailey and Ambrose.

Fern thinks she's ugly… but I think she's very beautiful, inside and out.

Bailey, Fern's cousin and best friend has Duchenne muscular dystrophy , it makes his muscles weak, yet he is one of the strongest person I have heard of.

Fern loves Ambrose Young since she was 10 years old. Ambrose to Fern is absolutely beautiful, a Greek God among mortals, the stuff of fairy tales and movie screens. So out of her league. Until he wasn't beautiful anymore.

"Making Faces is the story of a small town where five young men go off to war, and only one comes back. It is the story of loss. Collective loss, individual loss, loss of beauty, loss of life, loss of identity. It is the tale of one girl's love for a broken boy, and a wounded warrior's love for an unremarkable girl. This is a story of friendship that overcomes heartache, heroism that defies the common definitions, and a modern tale of Beauty and the Beast, where we discover that there is a little beauty and a little beast in all of us."

My compliment to Ms. Amy Harmon, thank you.
